We’re a group of nerdy academic Christian types who like to reflect on the ways our studies and our faith play out in the world.

None of us write enough to support a whole blog ourselves, but we thought a community of voices could spur us on to write more and make an interesting site for folks to visit.

The name θλῖψις comes from the Greek used by the Apostle Paul to describe the sufferings, tribulations, and pressures of the world which, though they are sure to come, cannot separate us from the love of God.

We take our tagline from 2 Corinthians 4:8-9:

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed…
